Loyalty

Loyalty.  Is it important and what role does it play in your overall employment career?  Does a company owe its employee anything?

The “System” leads us all to initially believe that the company does owe us more than the paycheck we receive.  Many personnel representatives and managers within companies relate it to be so, and this automatically leads most us to believe it is.  I actually believe there is plenty of room for loyalty, as long as it's within reasonable parameters and has a career purpose attached.  However, with that said, there is absolutely no room for blind loyalty as it relates to your employment career.  Being able to separate loyalty and blind loyalty is sometimes very tricky.  Let me ask you these questions:  When an employer lays-off or releases an employee, does the employee have any options available to keep their job?  You've been very productive, yet the overall company has not done very well; do you still get the raise you deserve?  Why is it that the employee is expected to give 2 or more weeks' notice, and the company is not?  Does a company "guarantee" its employees anything?

There's a very big difference in the loyalty issue and it is covered in the “RKS:  298” Concept.  So, does a company really owe something to its employees?  For some employees, the “RKS: 298” answer may or may not be a surprise!
