Getting Ahead

Why does it seem like no matter what I do, I cannot get ahead?  Yet, you've seen several individuals who are not as good as you are, and they seem to get all the breaks?  There are several issues here:  Sometimes it's who you know, marketability, competition, playing the proper game, influence, the market, and having all your eggs in one basket.  If you only have the company you're presently working for as an option, that is your biggest problem with getting ahead in your career.  If they don't see you in the role or with the training you want - or - need then you're stuck!  You have only one option and that's to take your present marketability to the market.
