Competition and Marketability

Competition and marketability.  These are two of the most important factors in your 50-year career!  Not understanding the role each will play over ones entire career will cost many (up to 70%) of you much of your career hopes and dreams.

Competition:  Do we think this country got to be the best by not out-competing the rest of the world?  Think of it this way:  Rome had a 400-year run at being the greatest country in the world.  Near the end do you believe they thought that they were going to lose it all?  I don't think so!  This relates very well to the last half of one's career, where over 70% of the workforce will be negatively affected by the role competition plays in their employment career.  

Marketability:  It's all about how many organizations want what you have!  Technology and equipment keep changing almost daily, and what do all of the companies want to pay more money for, old or new?  There will be no difference when it comes to an individual's experience; do they really want your 20-30 years of older technology expertise?
